Jan Kool, born in Arnhem (The Netherlands) 24-04-1947 where he grew up.
His profession was art teacher.
Now he lives (retired) in Lintelo (Aalten).
Before this he was living in Somme-Leuze, Wallony, province of Belgium. (the Frenchspeaking part)
Often he uses photographs, made by his wife or himself as a starting point for his drawings.

The works are set up in pencil and worked out in (reversal) pen and Eastindian ink.
Nowadays he uses a Rotring 0.25mm pen in shade technique and sometimes coloured with thinned down and mixed ecoline.
At present he makes work in acryllic paint.

Jan has great admiration for Jopie Huisman, Anton Pieck, Rien Poortvliet, Evert Thielen and Henk Helmantel.
The greatest of all times are Leonardo da Vinci and Albrecht Dürer.
